January 15, 2015 – REACH of Haywood celebrates a successful year

REACH of Haywood County’s first Holiday Gala was a fun night of friendship and helping hands joining together. The black tie event raised close to $6,600, according to Pat Janke, REACH board member. All funds help victims of domestic and elderly abuse in Haywood County.

REACH currently pays seven full-time staff and four part-time staff members to facilitate one-on-one help with emergency housing, rent, clothing and etc. The Within REACH Resale Shop in downtown Hazelwood is staffed almost entirely by volunteers.

During the gala, board Chairwoman Marilyn Obrig and Executive Director Julia Freeman gave updates on the outstanding year REACH has had fundraising and helping clients.

The evening was a success with an abundance of ambience and décor at the Laurel Ridge Country Club. Fabulous table decorations were provided by event co-chairs Renee Garrett and Belle Fangmeyer and their committee. Chef Al prepared a great dinner served by the staff led by Danielle Brendelle who had decorated the clubhouse beautifully, Jeanne Naber, of Songbug DJ Services, provided the music.
