On July 10th, REACH of Haywood County welcomed more than 140 guests at their main summer fundraiser – this year, a hula hoop contestwhimsical beach party. The event took place at Laurel Ridge Country club, and featured a variety of games and contests along with dinner and tropical drinks. Attendees enjoyed playing cornhole and “beach” volleyball, taking snapshots in the free photo booth, trying their luck at 50/50 bingo, and cheering on limbo and hula hoop contests. Arguably the most entertaining contest of the evening was the Men’s Sexy Legs Contest, which raised hundreds of dollars on its own as the audience voted for their favorites.

Altogether, the event was able to collect $30,000 dollars to fund REACH’s work aiding victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence. The proceeds will help REACH provide their clients with such services as housing, legal assistance, and counseling, as well as contributing to REACH’s ongoing prevention programs.
